Effective Preparation?
I felt unprepared going into the mock examinations. Economics was probably the subject I prepared for most, and I’m happy with the amount of work I did in the time that I had (which wasn’t a lot, having spent much of it applying for universities) coming up to the exams. My biggest weakness is probably recalling and applying everything I know under the pressure of exams, which is best dealt with by practising past paper questions under exam conditions.
Topics to Review?
- Unemployment (models, definitions)
- Economic Growth
- Income distribution
- Theory of the Firm
- Government policies (especially monetary and supply side)
- Balance of payments (HL content)
- Exchange Rate diagrams
Effective Strategies?
My revision for economics mostly includes reading textbooks, and making/ reviewing notes. I started by listing the topics in order of my confidence and I just dealt with them one by one. Reflecting back though, there are a few topics that I thought I knew well that definitely needs more work.
New Strategies?
Generally, I plan to make a detailed revision plan to prevent any last minute revision. Specifically for economics, part of the revision includes reviewing the topics I’m weak in, and also getting a lot of past paper practice before the final examinations.
